My year in books

Hi guys! I took a little break for the end of the year, and am slowly getting back in the reviewing/blogging mood. Since I did not take the time to review my year in December, here it is now! Unlike previous years, I didn’t count on Goodreads to help me keep track of things. I used both The Storygraph, which is a fairly new alternative to GR, and my own Excel sheet I started in January 2021. Since not all the books I’ve read for work already existed in the databases as I worked in book publishing and got to read many very very ARCs, I kept track of them on Excel. The Storygraph’s graphs are still pretty accurate, so let’s see!

According to my Excel sheet, I read 73 books, for a total page length of 23,239, and an average rating of 4.07/5

Since my goal was to read 65 books, I’m pretty happy with that. I read more in the first 6 months during my internship in a publishing house, and the reading count completely declined after I started dating my boyfriend in September 😂 I regret nothing though! I’m still happy with the whole thing.

I tried to vary my reading genres in 2021 but I guess I failed a little a that since my most read genres are still YA and fantasy… I mean, they’re comfort reads, so it probably won’t change this year either haha!

Overall, I really liked my reads this year, as my average rating is 4.07. Still, some books managed to catch my attention more than others. So here are my favorite books of the year, in no particular order!

Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia | Review

Aurora Rising by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff | Review

Odin’s Child by Siri Pettersen | Review

The Amber Crown by Jacey Bedford | RTC

Thanks for reading,
See you soon,

  1. Wait so you had to choose between love and reading? Tough call;)

You beat me on books, but I managed to beat you on pages. Best of luck this year! Hopefully you’ll find some way to combine love and reading better!
